Laser Hair Removal and Practitioners

When considering laser hair removal, it’s important to select an experienced facility. Experience is vital in selecting proper laser parameters for individual body areas and patients. Laser hair removal centers with the most experience generally offer the best results.

Research the qualifications of the laser hair removal center’s medical director, and try to obtain information on the following:
· Board certification in Dermatology
· Number of board certified doctors on staff
· If all personnel performing laser hair removal are licensed physicians or registered nurses
· If the facility is affiliated with an academic medical center
Qualifications and requirements of laser hair removal personnel vary by state. In California, for example, a licensed medical doctor, registered nurse or nurse practitioner may only perform laser hair removal. Electrologists, medical assistants and other unlicensed personnel cannot perform the procedure.
